Gingerbread House Decorating

On Thursday we decorated gingerbread houses.The ingredients that I used was marshmallows,icing,M&M's,Green icing,red icing,Blue icing,sprinkles,Green apple runts,Strawberry runts and Icing sugar.The thing is that we didn't get direct instructions of decorating so then I just put the icing all over the roof then put stripes of green icing across the roof then stuck the green apple runts up down up down.Then I put some yellow sprinkles across the roof then I put yellow marshmallows across the roof as well.After that I used green icing to stick the green marshmallows to act as bushes.Then I used a small candy cane and broke of the top of it and placed it as the door.After that I placed a strawberry runt because it looked like a heart and I placed it above the door.Then I sifted icing sugar on top of the house.It was a really fun experience and I hope I can do it again sometime.

Chess

Last week Nyla's dad or Mr Fulo taught us how to play chess.First he taught us how the chess pieces could move.He told us that the king was most powerful and he can move anywhere but he can only move one space.Next up the queen,The queen is the most powerful of all pieces.It can move horizontally,diagonally and vertically and as many blocks as it wants.The rook,The rook is a piece that represents the castle of the king and queen.It can move vertically and horizontally as many blocks as it wants until it gets blocked by another piece.  And the bishop,The bishop is a character that represents the bishop.It can move diagonally until it will hit an obstacle.Then there is the knight, The knight represents the guardian for the whole castle.It can move in an L shape like two squares vertically then one square horizontally and it can also jump over its own pieces.Then the pawn,The pawn is the most brave of all the pieces because it is the only one that only moves forwards and it can only kill by going forwards and diagonally.After teaching us how they move we played some games of chess. 

Maori Week

     Māori Week

Two weeks ago it was Māori week so we did a lot of things Māori related.The first day Ms Nelson went on google and found a Māori random word maker or something like that but then she found a word mauri mahi, mauri Ora.And then that day was done.The next day we learnt another word but I forgot what it was.After a few days we did Māori rotations with different senior classes.First we did our own class and we did string art.First we did a cup and saucer and once everyone got the hang of it we moved on to the parachute affect.But that was all we learnt in room 2.

Secondly we went to room 3 we firstly learnt about what the symbols meant secondly she told us a story about why she wore her item.And then we moved on to the real stuff we got to make items with salt dough.But first we had to chose which one we wanted to make,I made the whale tail.At first it was kind of hard to make at the start so then I just rolled it out and then I cut out a whale tail with one of the barbecue sticks.Once we finished making one you could make another but when I made another there was barely any space for me to fit my second one so I just made one.And that was our last rotation for the day.

After that day with Room 2 and Room 3 we went to Room 4 and we did a stick game but we used magazines shaped into sticks.The first game we did with the sticks was like a game like what we did at camp.So we just put the stick in front of the person on the left with your right hand while putting the left hand behind our back,And when he would say go we would have to let go and try to grab the one in front of you.And he would try to trick us by using words that
sounded like go.After that game we did this stick music game and then it was something like E papa .The first time we just practised with our friends and then we did the real thing and then we just moved down to the left and if you were at the end when he would say go you would have to go to the end and then you would be with the person at the end of the line.



After Room 4 we went to Room 1.We did bingo but it was in Māori she played a song to teach us the Māori numbers but I didn't win a prize. :(

Coding

A few weeks ago we started to do some coding.Ms Nelson told us to go on code.org,But first she gave out the secret words.The first level was an angry bird level.It told us how to include the code into the big code.The codes that were there was just "move forward,turn left and turn right".I completed eight levels.The first three were angry birds,The next four levels were about artists and the last one that I did was about a bee.Each level had different commands.It was very fun and interesting.

Dance Mat Typing Experience

When we were doing reading group two sat down on the mat and Ms Nelson told us to do something called Dance Mat Typing.The other groups were just doing normal reading stuff but group two was doing only the first level of dance mat typing.I finished level one and there is three stages in each level.Each stage has different keys on the keyboard.

Monday August 21st

On Monday Mr Tanaka lead us to the kitchen one by one after lunch. Once all of the class was in there he started to cook miso soup.First he added water into the pot and waited for it to boil.After that he added some dry seaweed into the pot and added miso paste into the pot.Then he stirred it for a while and then he added a bit more of the miso paste and said that he liked miso soup better with more miso paste.And once he added the right amount of miso paste that he liked he started to stir it for a while and then he got a bunch of coffee cups ut and he started to pour some soup in each cup.I got the soup quite quickly and once I got it I just held the handle and tried to cool it down by blowing it and once I tasted it,it was very very salty but at the same time it was yum.Everybody was just outside drinking the soup and enjoying it.Once everybody finished their miso soup we all sat on the mat and mr Tanaka told us that we got some souvenirs and he took out some origami from this white bag that he got and gave us each one piece of origami and we had to read what it said and the contents told us about what they liked what their name was and what age they were.So once all of us read the note he told us that we would respond back to them and also make origami.So he gave us each a piece of origami paper and we wrote a note on it saying the same thing like our age,our name and our favourite things to do.Once we finished our writing we had to go to Mr Tanaka and he would teach us how to do the origami.I made a crane and it actually turned out to be good.I didn’t think it would look good because I’m not the best at origami.And that is about the first lesson Mr Tanaka taught us.

Tuesday August 22nd

On Tuesday Mr Tanaka showed us a powerpoint about the Japanese school that he worked in.He talked about their daily routine in Japan.He showed us a photo of the people who helped with the food.People from class asked Mr Tanaka why they were wearing masks.And he responded with saying because when they talk their saliva with go everywhere.After showing us the photos of the school in Japan he showed us the characters and it’s called Kanji.Then he gave the whole challenge to name all of the Japanese characters matching the kanji symbol.After that game he told us to get a piece of origami paper and write down a kanji character and I chose a bird.Once we wrote down the kanji character we had to draw the character that you wrote down.Once we finished one we had to draw another and do that again until the time was up.I enjoyed that day I think it was probably my favourite.

Wednesday August 23rd

On Wednesday we did circuit stuff.First we got into groups of six and then he asked us questions if it would work on certain paper stuff like that and then he asked if it would work on paper then he asked if it would work on foil.After that each group had to go on a table and then we had to test it out first we had to test out the batteries and the led light and if it would work.After that we tested if it would on paper then the foil because most people suspected that it would only work on the foil.So once we tested it we had problems just working on trying to light it up so it took us a while and we were only able to test out the paper so we didn’t know if the foil would work.then he asked the whole class if it worked for the paper and the foil.We didn’t put our hands up for paper and we only put it up on foil.After that he gave us some metallic paper and it still didn’t work and after that we got some sand paper and we had to scratch the sparkly stuff off and then it worked! We wrote down on the chart that the scratched metallic paper and the foil worked and we wrote down that the paper and the non scratched metallic paper didn’t work.After that we all had to sit down on the mat and we had to tell our observations about it.After that we put everything away.And that was just his last lesson.

Trapped And Lost

My name is Ysabella and I was walking across my neighbourhood and then ...BOW! Something has caught me and then once I finally see the light I see nobody around there was barely nothing but just a abandoned ship.I feel sick I feel Scared I feel like I’m going to die here … nobody at my death nobody going to my funeral but there is a chance somebody can come and save me but who would even come to this dead looking place.I just hope there is something around here to eat but then I remembered that I had two lunchboxes and two water bottles that i could use for survival but once I finish this there would be nothing to eat just as long as somebody saves me.I feel cold I wish I had warmer clothes I might have hypothermia!Okay in my mind I think “Okay calm down calm down take deep breaths take deep breaths”So I wait a few days day after the other and still no body’s here and I have almost have run out of food “oh hopefully I don’t starve”.I’m looking for things I can build a shelter with but I can only see a boat but I don’t think I have anything in my bag that I can break it down with but as soon as I say that I find a sword saw and a hammer.I’m getting so happy but how would I climb up there to get the materials from the ship.I look around helplessly and I find a stairway made with rocks it looks like it was handmade but as soon as I look around I see footprints they are way bigger than mine so I look around again in fear I see nothing but dust.I climb the stairway and I climb onto the ship I look around and I see four dead pirates that have their skeleton left behind filled with spiders and cobwebs.Once I walk around in fear I found some food in a little box so I took it apart carefully and I thought something was going to happen but nothing happened.Then I carefully and slowly walked down the path way and built a hut.The first time it collapsed and the second time it collapsed but the third time it worked!I started to relax in the hut I tried to sleep but it was way to cold to sleep so I tried to find some materials to make a fire.So then I got the access wood and rubbed it together and voila it made a small fire so I immediately put some more wood into the fire and it got bigger I was so happy.But still maybe I might die here.After a couple of days still nobody rescued me and I had just a bite of food and a sip of water so I got really worried so I tried to make a signal with the fire so if a another ship or another person comes they can rescue me but I had barely any hope to do it anymore.I tried to search for food again in the ship and I only found a bit of gold but I knew that there was no use to it if I can’t buy anything from a shop or anything related to that.But once I get rescued I will be a millionaire!But what is the use of trying I thought.So I made the fire bigger and I saw a plane flying by but I don’t think it noticed me because it just passed by so yeah… But I tried again another plane was coming but it passed me again so I thought that I would just die right now but then I saw another plane flying by so I started to yell like a maniac it saw me but once I got in they said they found me because of the fire and not my yelling it felt like I already lost my voice I finally felt safe and I safely returned home.

Fidget Spinner Persuasive Writing

Fidget Spinner Day

On July the 29th we did fidget spinner day.Mrs Nelson told us to get into a group of three with one person that has a fidget spinner and two people that have no fidget spinners.She gave each person a sheet of paper that had basic facts and then the person with the fidget spinner to spin it and do the basic facts as fast as possible until the fidget spinner stops.Once we have finished the sheet we got another sheet with times tables and again we had to spin the fidget spinner until it would stop.Fidget spinner day was just a day where we got to bring our fidget spinner and spin it when ever we want but we weren't allowed to distract anyone by using it or any how.

Room 2 Assembly

On Friday room 2 was going to do the assembly on wacky hair day as well.;)

Electro City

On June the 22nd on Wednesday Ms Nelson Challenged us to play 50,000 for population and a A marking in electro city.In my opinion I think that electro city is good for little kids to learn about how to save energy and help the environment.At the start of the game my population was pretty low and my money was like average.It also teaches kids about the future and geothermal energy.In the middle of playing I started to get a nice population and the money but then at the end things went downhill and I started to lose my money and the population.
